Empowered Healing Cancer Care Center
Healthcare | School Project
The Concept: The healthcare facility was designed with the idea of empowerment. Cancer patients often feel weakened physically and emotionally as if they don’t have control in their cancer treatment. But when they visit the Empowered Healing Cancer Care Center (EHCCC), they will feel strong, supported, active, and know that they have a say in how their visit goes. They will be aware of all aspects of their health and know they are not alone. The space will also support staff; doctors and nurses can feel a range of emotions, but must hold these feelings back for the sake of the patient. Within the EHCCC, staff will be able to efficiently do their jobs but also feel like their wellbeing is a priority. Lastly, the space will support family members and other visitors. Patients often bring family members and friends for support and company during hospital visits, but oftentimes family and friends are left waiting with little to no information on the status of their loved one’s health or have to tag along with them in cramped patient rooms or areas with little privacy. The EHCCC will mitigate these stressful situations so that visitors can truly care and focus on their loved ones through their difficult time.

In addition to the studio project, we also documented our team's process, including the charrette, partnership with Herman Miller, research, site and showroom tours, ideation, narrative inquiry, midpoint review, and final presentation. A sample from this 77 page eBook, in which I was in charge of layout design and writing, is below.
